Early Life and Career

Leszek Miller, the former Prime Minister of Poland, passed away on August 21, 2023, at the age of 79.

Miller was born in Żyrardów, Poland, on July 3, 1944. He studied economics at the University of Warsaw and began his political career in the 1970s as a member of the Polish United Workers' Party.

Miller rose through the ranks of the party and became its leader in 1993. He led the party to victory in the 2001 parliamentary elections and became Prime Minister.

Prime Ministership

Miller's tenure as Prime Minister was marked by a number of significant events, including Poland's accession to the European Union in 2004 and the country's economic recovery from the 2008 financial crisis.

However, Miller's government was also criticized for its handling of the 2005 Iraq War and its slow response to the 2007 flood.

Miller resigned as Prime Minister in 2004 after his party lost the parliamentary elections.

Later Life and Legacy

After leaving office, Miller remained active in politics and served as a member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2019.

He is remembered as a skilled politician and a strong advocate for Poland's integration into Europe.

Miller is survived by his wife, Aleksandra, and his two children.
