Austin Dillon Crashes Two Drivers to Win
Dillon was unapologetic after the race, saying he did what he had to do to win.
Richmond, VA - August 11, 2023 - Austin Dillon took the checkered flag Sunday evening at Richmond Raceway after contact on the final lap. Dillon crashed two drivers in front of him, Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin, to secure the win.
It was a controversial finish, but Dillon defended his actions, saying he did what he had to do to win. "I'm not going to apologize for winning," Dillon said. "I did what I had to do to get to the front and win the race.
Logano and Hamlin were not happy with Dillon's tactics. Logano called Dillon a "dirty driver" and said he should be suspended. Hamlin said Dillon's win was "a disgrace to the sport."
NASCAR officials are reviewing the incident and could take action against Dillon. However, for now, Dillon is celebrating his first NASCAR Cup Series victory since 2021.
