Ally McCoist: Rangers legend diagnosed with prostate cancer

Former Rangers and Scotland striker Ally McCoist has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The 61-year-old, who scored a record 362 goals for Rangers, revealed the news on Tuesday.

McCoist, who now works as a pundit for BT Sport and talkSPORT, said he was diagnosed after a routine check-up.

"I went for a routine check-up...and the results came back that I've got prostate cancer," McCoist said.

"It's something that I've got to deal with. It's a bit of a shock, but I'm going to get it dealt with and I'm sure I'll be fine."

McCoist said he will undergo surgery in the next few weeks.

"I'm going to get it sorted out," he said. "I'm going to get the surgery done and I'm sure I'll be fine."

McCoist, who is married with three children, thanked his family and friends for their support.

"I've got a great support network around me," he said. "I've got my wife and kids, my friends, and my colleagues.

"They're all going to be there to support me through this.

"I'm going to get through this. I'm going to beat this."
